Amy MitchellYoga Instructor, Health ScientistHello! I'm Amy, born and raised in Karratha. My yoga journey began in 2009 when I moved to Perth to study and immersede myself in Ashtanga method for several years. During my degree I studied areas in human biology, psychology and human movement. This helped me understand the science behind yoga, breathwork and mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Overtime my yoga practice evolved and adapted to include Vinyasa, Hatha and Restorative styles, each bringing a new dimension of fulfilment and growth. In 2011, I travelled to Hangzhou, China and Ubud, Bali Bahasa Indonesia for a month-long yoga experience, which deepened my passion for the practice. My studies in India 2013, as part of my Bachelor of Health Science capstone semester, introduced me to Vipassana meditation. This led to transformative 10 day silent retreats in Nepal, Burma, and Sri Lanka, profoundly impacting my life's direction. While pregnant with my son, now 8 years old, I dedicated a year to studying Hatha yoga and began teaching yoga in Karratha 2017 as a 350 hour Level 1 registered Yoga teacher. The following year I completed my Relaxation Massage qualification. Since then, I have taught a diverse range of classes, from pregnancy and Mum's 'n' Bubs, to Yin, Restorative, corporate sessions, and private at home classes. A recent trip to Bali nearly 13 years on from my initial visit, reignited my sense of how far a Yoga Journey can take you. This full circle moment affirmed my commitment to sharing this lifelong practice with others. I look forward to guiding you on your own yoga path and exploring the many ways it can enrich your life. |
